Ingredients :

Purple Yam (kand), peeled250 grams
Raw bananas2
Green garlic1/2 cup
Green peas, shelled1/2 cup
Scraped coconut3/4 cup
Surti papdi300 grams
Fresh coriander leaves4 cups
Ginger-green chilli paste2 tablespoons
Baking powdera pinch
Baby potatoes, peeled8
Baby brinjals slit into 46
Saltto taste
Coriander powder2 teaspoons


Quick Dinner Recipes

For Muthiya      
Whole wheat flour1/2 cup
Whole wheat flour1/2 cup
Gram flour1/4 cup
Fresh fenugreek chopped1 cup
Saltto taste
Carom seeds1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder1/4 teaspoon
Red chilli powder1 teaspoon
Ginger-garlic-green chilli paste1 teaspoon
Oil2 tablespoons + for deep-frying
Yogurt2 tablespoons as required

Quick Dinner Recipes


Directions :
  1. Mix wheat flour and gram flour in a bowl.
  2. Add fenugreek leaves, salt, carom seeds, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, ginger-green chilli paste, oil, yogurt and water and knead into stiff dough.
  3. Divide this dough into equal portions and shape them into cylinders.
  4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and deep fry these till golden.
  5. Drain on paper.
  6. Cut the purple yam into big cubes.
  7. Peel raw bananas and cut into cubes and put in a bowl.
  8. Chop garlic.
  9. Grind together peas and coconut.
  10. Place surti papdi and their seeds in a bowl.
  11. Add some of the coconut-green pea mixture and mix. Add coriander leaves and  garlic.
  12. Add ginger green chilli paste, soda and mix well.
  13. Pour 4 tbsps. of the hot oil into a non-stick pan.
  14. Add carom seeds and add 2 cups water and let it come to a boil.
  15. Add purple yam to raw bananas.
  16. Add baby potatoes and brinjals.
  17. Add some of the coconut garlic mixture, coconut pea mixture and salt and mix well.
  18. Add remaining coconut garlic mixture, coriander powder and salt to the surti papdi mixture and spread it in a layer in the pan.
  19. Over it put the vegetable mixture.
  20. In between keep the muthiyas.
  21. Cover and cook till all the vegetables are done.
  22. Serve hot. When in hurry follow this Quick dinner recipes.
